An argument I lost...

I lose arguments all the time.  This one is particularly memorable because of the subject and nature of my loss.  Since its football related I thought I'd share.  A poster named Bubby B reminded me of this argument as well.

It was 1994 two years after the Houston Oilers shipped Warren Moon off to Minnesota.  I'm arguing with a guy who says everybody from Texas is a redneck.  I'm giving this guy example after example and he keeps telling me we all say things like "Yall" so that makes us all rednecks.

This is the point in the conversation where my downfall becomes apparent.  I made the mistake of bringing up our football team.  I thought "These are guys from all over the country.  No way in hell he could say anything after that right?"  Wrong.

I said, "Oh, you think Spencer Tillman is a redneck?"

He says "Who's your QB?"

"Cody Carlson."

"OK, who's the back-up?"

"Bucky Richardson"

"Who is the third QB?"

By now I can tell where this is going and reluctantly answer....

"Billy Joe Tolliver"

He then precedes to put the nail in the coffin on my position by saying.....

"So you mean to tell me that your city is not full of rednecks when your team's quarterbacks are named Cody, Bucky, and Billy Joe?"

Not much I can really say after that now is there?  I suppose it could have been worse, he could have added our safties at the time, Bo and Bubba. (Bo Orlando and Bubba McDowell)  It was too funny at the time for me to continue.  I was clearly defeated and happy to conceed.

Cheers,

The Slackers

Too funny, HomeSlice!  Thanks for the laugh; I loved it.

By the way, do we really want a President whose last name is Huckabee?

HA! He must be from Texas then.

Last night I was looking at a photo lineup (Actually it was a Microsoft Silverlight showcase thingy.) Anyway, I'm looking at all the candidates and thinking to myself "who has the face of the next president of the united states?"  Right as I'm thinking that I come accross this picture of Mike Gravel and I almost blew coca-cola all over my laptop.

Hyperlinks not working for some reason:

copy and paste that to see the photo.

Thank goodness you warned me!  LOL  I want to know who his dentist is.  If he doesn't have a future in politics, he can always do Polident commercials.

Slackers - now I know why I liked you; you're a Bruins fan!  I'm watching the game right now and they're up 2-0 over the Islandahs!  I have season tickets to the Providence Bruins and go to their games all the time.  They're #1 in the entire AHL right now even though they're getting picked about by the B's due to injuries.  I saw Jeremy Reich play before he got brought up.  Tough kid with decent hockey skills but a very physical player.
